Hi there! I’m from the Marketing Department here at Close To My Heart.
Today I’ll show you how to do the spray mist technique
using our new Close To My Heart spray pen
and a few other products you'll likely have on hand.
The items I use for this technique are the
Exclusive Inks® re-inker, Create-a-Shade® pearl paint,
water, and, of course, the spray pen.
This little guy comes in a 3-pack which is extremely convenient
because I can have three different colors on hand at once.
Plus, the 3-pack makes each spray pen super affordable.
I find the lines on the side helpful because it guides me
as I mix the appropriate amounts of water, re-inker,
and pearl paint so that I get a nice shimmer.
I especially like that the pen has a lid because it
helps me keep my tools and creative space clean from any spills.
And speaking of potential spills, be sure to only fill
the spray pen to the top line and protect your work surface.
Okay, now that you know the scoop on why I love
the spray pen, let me show you why you'll love it, too.
Isn’t this a great way to dress up the Fanfare paper packet?
See this area right here? This is the spray mist technique.
Look how perfectly it spruces up the space on
the Originals Framed Message™ pattern. Spray-misting is super easy.
All I do is decide where I want the spray mist to appear.
Then, I fill the spray pen with water to
the 7th line from the bottom as I've done here.
Next, I add enough drops of Close To My Heart Cranberry
Exclusive Inks re-inker until the liquid reaches the 9th line.
Then, I add about 3 pea-sized drops of Create-a-Shade pearl paint.
Pearl paint is another of my favorite products because
it's perfect for when I want to add an extra shine. It can
easily be mixed with any of our re-inkers and adds instant glamour.
Finally, I shake the pen until everything is thoroughly mixed.
Look, I’ve got a finished pen ready right here.
Now, keep in mind, if I were creating a layout with this technique,
I’d want to be aware of where my photos, journaling, and title
will be so that I keep that area free from the spray mist.
Okay, now I’m ready for the best part:
spraying the mixture on my artwork!
I hold the spray pen 8 inches from the cardstock,
or whatever paper I’m using, and then I press the pen tip
as I spray the mixture over my project.
Isn’t that a great look?
You’ll see that the mist has created a
completely unique pattern with dark and light areas.
The best part of using the Close To My Heart spray pen
is that each time the result is unique. And watch out:
creating art with this technique is pretty addictive!
Now that I’m finished with this portion of the project,
the next thing I do is set the paper aside to dry.
This drying time gives me the chance to clean the nozzle
and suction tube so that the mixture
doesn’t dry inside, which would clog the pen.
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning how to do this fun
spray mist technique. I sure had fun showing you!
Now get out there and try it for yourself on your next project,
whether it’s a card or a layout!
