Okay, now we're going to talk about holding your Canon 40D. The best way to hold this
camera is to wrap your right hand around the right side of the camera, very tightly. You
can really grip it, and the body is designed so that your hand really just fits right in
there. So you should just be able to hold it with one hand if you need to, and grip
it pretty tightly. And your index finger should wrap around to the front where the shutter
button is. The main thing with a camera is, so far as holding it goes, is keeping it steady.
So your left hand especially if you have a longer lens, will want to be under the camera
body. Maybe just holding on to the lens itself. So you're going to have both hands wrapped
firmly around the camera. One hand on the body and one hand primarily on the lens, to
help aim the camera. To help further keep the camera steady, you might want to take
your elbows and pull them in close to your body to keep the camera steady. So you tuck
them into your sides and sort of push your elbows into your ribs, and that will help
to keep your camera from moving and producing any extra camera shake on your body. Once
your arms are pulled in, the other thing that you can do, is put your eye, put the camera
up to your face, and press it against your eyebrow or your forehead, your eye, that will
also help to steady the camera and keep it as motionless as possible. The other thing
that you can do after pressing the camera to your eye, is make sure that your feet are
spread apart to help keep your balance.
