How can I help my baby poop?
Babies hardly ever need help to poop. Eating, sleeping and pooping are the few things they
do automatically from birth.
I think my baby has constipation.
Babies usually poop once or twice a day, though it seems like they are constantly peeing.
What makes you think he has constipation?
He makes funny faces when he poops.
Do you ever watch yourself in the mirror when you are pooping? I'm sure you make funny faces,
too.
He seems to have hard dry poop pellets instead of the gooey mess that's more normal.
He might just be dehydrated. Try giving him more juice and water instead of milk all the
time.
I saw laxative drops for babies at the store.
Babies can easily get dehydrated because a few drops are the equivalent of a colon cleanse
for them. If you want him to poop more, give him apple sauce.
That has a lot of sugar.
It has a lot of fiber. Or try oatmeal.
I don't think he likes oatmeal.
Get pork with apples baby food. Or give him a bottle of adult apple juice, which is high
in fiber.
Is that safe?
It's safer than laxatives. Or you could just let him put everything in his mouth.
He already tries to do that.
Let him eat some of those bugs he's been chasing around the house. He'll probably poop up a
storm and learn that he doesn't like them, all in one fell swoop.
And I may end up on the phone with poison control.
Or you could let him teeth on a prune.
That's only good for getting video of funny baby faces.
Give him pureed apricots, plums or carrots. He'll get a serving of fruits and vegetables
and a ton of fiber.
Or I could try castor oil.
Trust me, the apple juice tastes way better.
