TRAVIS JOHNS: Hi. I'm Travis Johns with Expert Village, and I'm going to talk to you about
rush delivery options. Sometimes, you'll get a call from a client saying they need something
today, sometimes they need it yesterday. Well, to keep up with this demand, you need to research
what options are available to you in the area. A lot of the major shipping companies will
have rush delivery available but it's going to come at a premium cost. You need to make
sure that if the client needs it right away that they understand that the premium cost
is going to be billed to them at the very end of the project. Just because they needed
it quickly doesn't mean you should have to pay for it. Also, if you're going to deliver
the file over the internet and they needed it extra quick, you want to see if maybe you
can cut the file up and do a couple of different sections so that they can get it piecemeal,
ergo getting it sooner rather than later. In the event that you are having to give them
the rush delivery files over the internet, feel the client out, see if they'll take a
low-res version so it'll get to them quicker; it'll copy up over the FTP site faster. Another
thing to consider while you're doing all of this is rushing to get them the file, is that
going to create extra work for you? If it is, you need to make note of this if you're
being billed hourly or if you have a day rate so that you're being paid for your time even
though they needed it quicker.
