Hi! I’m Lisa Krone and I am here with Best Epicurean on behalf of expertvillage.com and
today we are going to talk about kid friendly meal ideas. So one of the things I love to
do and I know that kids love is peanut butter and jelly. So we have our peanut butter and
we put it on but I am going to show you how to put an extra zing into our peanut butter
and jelly sandwich. So the first thing I did was toast the bread and you can use any kind
of bread. For our purposes, I used white bread today and you can put on your peanut butter,
put on your jelly; I like to use the same knife because the kids love to lick the knife
when they done. I find out when you toast the bread that it brings out a better flavor
on the bread and also if there are any nuts or anything in the bread, it brings out those
essential oils. What I want to do is I want to take a drop of cinnamon here and I just
want to sprinkle it over my peanut butter, put it together and now you have a different
sort of peanut butter and jelly sandwich that is going to give a little bit of a zing for
your youngster and also kind of acclimates their taste buds just a little bit, just something
that is a little bit different than the normal peanut butter and jelly sandwich to prepare
them as an adult. The other thing I like to make is grab some pasta; I love to store my
pasta here in plastic bags. It makes it easy for little hands to grab it and I just go
right here to my wok and I will stick my pasta in. I will take my butter, turn my stove on
here and I will turn it on high and I will grab some butter. I like to take, not too
much, because you don’t want to make the fat content too high and put it into the pan
and you will mix your pasta up like this. The butter is starting to melt really really
nice and I’m going to put my plate here because I am going to put the food back on
there that way I don’t have to use up too many dishes and I am going to stir and cook
and my butter is almost melted. I heated my pasta ahead of time in the microwave for 1
minute so that I didn’t have to worry about getting the pasta too mixed up. Next thing
I do while it is in the pan and heating the butter, I take my Parmesan cheese and dump
it in there so we get some protein, flavor and taste. I take a tiny bit of garlic powder.
I do one mix, I do it like this, turn off my oven and voilá, we have a delicious meal
that any kid would love to eat.
