The Live Sites were created in downtown Vancouver
for this edition of the Olympic Winter Games.
You will find large Panasonic LED screens and visitors can freely come and go
and enjoy footage of the Opening Ceremony and various competitions.
Here at LiveCity Yaletown,
numerous Official Worldwide Olympic Partners have created unique pavilions
that provide a fun and interactive experience to many visitors.
Hi! I'm at LiveCity Yaletown.
As you can see, there is a stage with 2 large Panasonic LED screens.
And in front of the stage, you will find Panasonic's Pavilion
bearing the words, "SHARING THE PASSION IN FULL HD 3D."
And inside you can enjoy footage of the Olympic Winter Games in "FULL HD 3D,"
Panasonic's latest technology.
So, let us go inside and take a look.
(Yoko) Hi. (Yuri) Hi.
(Yoko) Are you Yuri? (Yuri) Yes. Are you Yoko?
(Yoko) Hi! Yoko Nakamizu. Pleased to see you. (Yuri) Nice to meet you.
(Yoko) Welcome. (Yuri) Thank you.
So, today I'd like to show you our Olympic pavilion
called Panasonic FULL HD 3D Theater.
So let's go.
Okay. Thank you.
As an Official Worldwide Olympic Partner,
Panasonic has been supporting the Olympic Movement for
more than twenty years under the concept "Sharing the Passion."
So here at the official live site of the city of Vancouver,
Panasonic provides space for spectators, citizens,
and athletes to come and enjoy the Olympic atmosphere,
but also to experience spectacular 3D images presented by Panasonic.
That's great.
So, those must be the FULL HD 3D Theaters. And you have two of them?
Yes. Two of them.
These theaters are showing the same pictures at the same time.
Panasonic has lead the way in proposing FULL HD 3D technology,
which realizes a whole new viewing experience
that makes you feel as though you have stepped into the 3D world.
So shall we go?
Yes. I can't wait to experience it for myself.
(Thank you.)
So what was the impression of 3D?
Well, it was completely different from 3D I've grown up with,
so it was a whole new viewing experience.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks. It was great.
So, I'm sure many people have experienced Panasonic's FULL HD 3D,
but what were their reactions like?
Lots of people are coming, and they told us that
they have really enjoyed the 3D and they are excited about it.
I liked it because it's a big screen.
I think it will be great to see sporting events on the 3D production.
I think it would look really good.
The fact that the Opening Ceremony was already incorporated into the technology,
the turn around time on the technology is very impressive.
3D is amazing!
It was amazing. It was amazing.
It's much better than regular TV.
It feels like you're there in the stadium, which was really cool.
The confetti coming down at the Opening Ceremony.
It felt like it was actually falling in the room.
It was like you could touch it. It was sweet.
Yeah, 3D! Yeah!
Anyway, What is this room?
This is the control room, and the beautiful and immersive 3D images
we are showing inside the theaters are all operated from here.
So, I heard that Panasonic is going to be introducing
FULL HD 3D compatible plasma TVs and Blu-ray Disc players,
but can we see these products here?
Sure. Here it is.
Oh, okay.
Shall we have a look?
Sure.
These 3D glasses are stylish and I thought they were ergonomic.
Isn't it?
And the image looks very real and crystal clear.
I feel like I'm being drawn into the world depicted on the screen.
And I thought it would be great
if we could watch 3D movies right in our living room.
That's right. Many 3D movies are being created by Hollywood film companies
and they will be released as Blu-ray software.
Panasonic is not only providing home theater systems.
We are also doing 3D content production support,
and also 3D disc production support for the professional users and filmmakers.
So we are proud that we are providing total solutions for 3D.
That's great.
So, how do you shoot in 3D? I mean, it must be a lot of work.
Yes. In the past we had to prepare 2 sets of cameras,
connect them and get them working together.
It was really hard work and very complicated, but not now.
Really?
So Yuri, please try these on.
Hey, that's me in 3D!
So the 3D images on the screen are shot by that camera on the wall.
It looks like a human face.
That's right.
Actually, that compact body has 2 camera lenses, and it looks very cute.
And it's very compact and portable, too.
That's Right.
We believe that this camera can expand the possibility of 3D image production.
So we don't need complicated systems,
and we also don't need a lot of time preparing the cameras.
So with this compact body, we can take 3D very easily.
So more and more content may become available in the future.
That's right.
So Yuri, do you know that sustainability is one of the main themes for
Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games?
Well, I've heard that instead of building new facilities,
they used existing ones as much as possible.
That's right.
And Panasonic also values environmental sustainability very highly.
This area communicates Panasonic's eco activities
and the commitment toward the global environment.
And there is a corner where people can propose their own 'eco ideas.'
So, actually, tonight we are planning to have an event
to connect 2 remote locations.
So if you have a chance, please come and join us.
I will talk to school children in Japan.
Really? I will.
Thank you for your time today. Nice meeting you.
My pleasure. Thank you. Thank you very much.
I was able to speak to the main person in charge of
the Panasonic Pavilion and ask him a few questions.
The objective of this 3D showcase is to have a place
where all the visitors can share the passion
or share the excitement of the Olympic Games
with our cutting-edge AV technology.
This time, our cutting edge AV technology is 3D technology.
As you may know, our 3D products will be entering the market this year.
Our new cutting edge AV technology and our marketing concept,
"Sharing the Passion," matches perfectly together at this pavilion.
So people can feel the excitement of the Olympic Games in FULL HD 3D,
which you've never experienced before.
So far the reaction or feedback is very good.
A lot of people are saying, "This is amazing,"
"I have never experienced this before."
And when I watched the 3D theater together with other people,
I could hear people saying, "Oh!" "Wow! This is something great."
Especially now, we are showing the highlights of the Vancouver Opening Ceremony.
A lot of people are really amazed that we are showing the content
right after the Vancouver Opening Ceremony.
Sure. In the future, especially for the London Games,
I would love to have a showcase like this,
where people can feel and share the passion of the Olympic Movement
with our cutting edge AV technology.
It's all about "Sharing the Passion."
The Panasonic FULL HD 3D Theater
that has been set up in the LiveCity Yaletown during the Olympic Winter Games.
As it has drawn the attention of many excited local people
and visitors from around the world
who have gathered here in Vancouver to watch the Games,
long lines form in front of the pavilion every day.
The passion and excitement Panasonic communicates with its imagery
will under go the FULL HD 3D evolution,
and spread across the world offering a whole new level of reality and liveness.
