This video is part of a series on things Atheists should never say.
My dear atheist,
please don't ever say that you were born again.
It's irrational.
It's illogical. It can't possibly be true. Before you jump to conclusions let me
tell you why it's not true because it may not be for the reason that you think.
An Atheist should never claimed to be what the Bible describes as a born-again
Christian because the atheist doesn't actually believe
that anyone has ever been born again.
You see, in an atheistic worldview nobody was ever what the bible describes as a
Christian
we need to understand what it means to be a Christian because it is not just
adherence to a set of beliefs. When someone claims to be born again they are
saying that they've experienced an actual spiritual rebirth where their sins
have been forgiven, where the Holy Spirit of God has indwelt them in a literal way
and they have now got an active relationship with God through Jesus
Christ. Is this what an atheist means when he says
"I used to be born again"?
no of course not. Atheists don't believe that the Holy Spirit exists
Atheists don't believe that anyone's ever been forgiven by God
Atheists don't believe anyone has a relationship with God
and therefore they don't believe anyone has ever been born again
therefore
they don't believe that they were at one time born again
to be accurate an atheist should say
I used to pretend to be a christian, I used to fake prayer and I used to do all
that stuff, and I thought it was real.
But I was never a real christian based on what the Bible says
now how can I go from saying an Atheist can't be born again
to saying that an atheist shouldn't even claim to have been a real Christian?
simply because of this; the Bible makes no distinction between being born again
being a christian
they're just different words for the same thing
somebody who is born again is a Christian and if someone is a Christian they
have in fact been born again.
So in an Atheistic worldview
no atheists were ever really born again
or really christians. They may have genuinely believed the principles of
christianity
but they were just faking the born again part
Christians also believe that when someone claims to be an Atheist it implies
that they never experienced real Christianity.
So we have some common ground
Atheists and Christians both believe that Atheists were not born again at any
point in time
so the Atheist is now left with a dilemma
if his atheism is true then is christianity was fake. Remember, the
atheistic worldview assumes that everyone claiming to have a relationship
with Christ is faking it.
Or,
if his Christianity was real then his Atheism
is not.
Because one certainly cannot have a genuine experience with a Being which
does not exist.
Therefore, if there was a genuine experience in that christianity
then there was
a real god
you were experiencing it with.
If you are that atheist
and find yourself unable to believe that your Christian experience was fake
then it's time to repent of your unbelief and come back to Christ
and return to the true and living God.
So if you ever hear somebody claim to have been born again
who doesn't actually believe in being born again
please ask them this question
What do you mean by that?
In what way were you born again?
Their world view has implications that might go beyond what they have realized.
Thank you very much for listening!
