If you are planning to undergo gastric sleeve surgery, it will be better to know the procedures
and guidelines for maintaining the correct weight loss even after the surgery. The procedure
of gastric surgery will reduce the weight by a considerable amount for the first six
months after undergoing the procedure. The weight loss during this time will be very
fast and satisfying results are obtained. After six months the weight loss seems to
stabilize and becomes slow, but it doesn't stop. Weight loss will be there for a whole
year after the surgery, but after about six months there will be significant highs and
lows in the process of weight loss.
There are chances that after one year the patient may start to slowly gain all the weight
which is lost. This shows that the patients are taking in more calories and carbohydrates
than allowed and is not compensating it with required exercise. Therefore it will be better
for them if they could stick with the gastric sleeve diet after undergoing a gastric surgery.
The primary thing to remember in a sleeve diet is the consumption of the right amount
of water that is needed by your body. It is required that the patients who have undergone
gastric sleeve procedure should be drinking a minimum of 2 quarts of water in a day.
The main ingredient that is to be present in the diet of a person who has undergone
gastric surgery is protein. The right kind of gastric sleeve diet recipes will be rich
in protein. The main diet should contain about 20 grams of protein or more. Meat, fish, poultry
and shell fish are good sources of protein. One ounce of these items contains nearly 7
grams of protein and therefore we should be taking in an average of 3 ounces of these
items on a daily basis.
Other good sources of proteins are egg white and cheese. Out of these protein rich foods,
it is the fish and eggs which are easier for making great gastric sleeve diet recipes.
The diet plan also says about the timing of the food consumption. The patient should be
eating food on regular intervals and munching or snacking between the meals is strictly
restricted. Some people will have to take small meals for five or six times in a day
for maintaining their bodily needs. The diet should be less in simple sugars, candy bars,
fruit juice drinks, and sodas.
