This is rising star. It's a three-peaked look that looks like a star rising, rising, rising
up your nail. But it just peeks out of the corner, so it's just a hint. You can do this
in any two shades. I love to do it with turquoise and pink, and like a baby pink and Miami Vice
colors or you can do it like I'm doing it here monochromatic.
This look I created for the Bergdorf-Goodman 111th anniversary party at Fashions Night
Out. It's a two-shade purple, based on their bag, their infamous purple bag. But you can
do it in any colors. I've also done it in a baby pink and a Miami Vice turquoise, very
South Beach. You can pick any two colors you want, monochromatic or complementary.
Then I edge the rising star look, which is what I like to call it, because it looks like
a star rising out of the corner of your nail. You can edge it with any metallic. That's
really best or a black or a white. Okay, so here's how you do it. You can start out with
any base color.
Here we chose a beautiful lilac custom created by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, just for
the event. Then I add three points to make the star. You can do this rising out of any
corner of your nail. I like it out of the bottom corner.
You can definitely flip it and do it from the top on one nail to pop it. You can absolutely
use a striper brush, but because I chose specific colors to match the bag, that didn't come
in stripers. I'm just using my craft brush. So now I'm going to edge the peaks of the
rising star in a metallic.
I'm going to use my silver striper, but you can use any color that you would like. This
also looks great with a gold. I feel like outlining things in metallic just makes the
pop. It makes them sparkle at the edges. I outline my eyes a little bit in silver too.
I just think a little sparkle never hurt anyone.
