I started playing disco music when my Grandson had a birthday party and he had a disco at
the end of it. And I went along at rather a late stage of
the proceedings and the gentleman at the door said 'I don't think you want to go in there
madam' and I said well I rather think I do. I must say the atmosphere was almost electric.
I said to my Grandson after, do you know Nana could do that for you, play music.
And he said; Nana that would be so cool. I never thought anything like this, six years
on to be travelling the world. But you know here we are.
The first big engagement was Cannes film festival. That was 2009.
And I thought as I stood in the side there waiting to go on what am I doing here, you
know? I'm crazy.
But the time comes for you to step up and I must admit all else was forgotten.
I think I am quite important to my grandson, I hope I am.
I grew up always knowing that Gran was there just up the top of the road, with her little
shop, you know. That I could go into when any little disagreements
at home you could run out to Grandma. And that's what Grandmas are all about, you
know. So I think its wonderful if the two generations
can get together more. I think if elderly people, no matter about age,
are doing a good job, why shouldn't they carry on doing it?
I think this age limit, especially now that we are all living for so much longer is a
thing of the past I think.
