JOHN SEXTON: Hi. I'm John Sexton, on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to be
learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation.
We can walk down here and see that there is some poisonous toxic stuff, so we don't want
to go in there but if we shoot a portal across the room and make another one here on the
wall, we can skip that stuff, which is good. And we find ourselves on a platform--oh, there
are the blades there--platform with some circuit boxes and things like that, but there's really
nothing for us to interact with, and then there's a door here but it's locked too. Here's
a room with some computers and things, where the scientists who are monitoring your progress
might work, although they're not there at the moment, and another catwalk which leads
to another area across the way there. So we can't jump there, at least not from here,
but we can make a portal up above the catwalk and make one on the wall, and then just jump
down and get on to the catwalk that way. So, we can go into this door and explore the area
with the computers and chairs and pick them up and throw them around if we want to. If
we do that we actually get to look back at some of the other test chambers. Here is the
one that we did with the cube dispenser and the force field in the hole above it that
we have to shoot through. So that's kind of fun to go back and look and see things from
the other side, so to speak, but there's nothing that you can do in terms of progression in
this room.
