So you want to know how to become a television reporter. I'm Glenn Selig and I spent twenty
years as a television reporter and now I am CEO of Selig Multimedia. Like any job there
is no one way to get to where you want to be. There are many paths to get there. Some
people start out in a station at the bottom, and they work their way up. They get lucky.
They work hard, they volunteer for assignments, they go out whenever they can, they look for
stories, they're very eager and they basically get very lucky and those people can start
off as some sort of intern and become a news reporter. So that's one way to do it. The
more conventional way is you go to your college, you get an education, you graduate, and you
get your first TV job in some very, very small market. And you start to work there and you
work your butt off and you work really hard. And then after about six months or a year
you go to a little bit of a bigger city and you get a little bit of a better job and you
continue working your way up the ladder until you finally get to the city that you really
want to be in and you stay and you're starting to make really good money, you enjoy the stories
and you enjoy the atmosphere. So there's really no one way to become a news reporter. There
are many ways to become a news reporter and now you know how you too can become a news
reporter. I'm Glenn Selig.
