My name is Franklin. I'm a music major at IUP,
and I want to tell you two quick stories.
First, I want you to meet Jessica. She plans to become a professional interior designer and concentrate on kitchen design.
She is looking forward to her career and realizes how important it is for families.
Families often congregate in their kitchens, and she believes designing them to be safe and comfortable will help make families stronger.
Jessica is paying for education all on her own,
but because she received a scholarship, she'll have to worry less about finding ways to pay her tuition and expenses
and can concentrate even more on her major courses.
She says she's thankful for those who give the scholarships and hopes that she can some day do the same for IUP students.
This is Torie. She's a business management major, and she is now applying to law school.
She wants to practice corporate law and is considering her options in intellectual property law.
Text books cost more than ever, but every good student knows you need the books to keep up in class.
Some students don't buy the books they need because they can't afford them.
Because Torie received a book scholarship, she doesn't have to do without or share with a classmate.
She has the materials she needs to make the most for her academic experience.
Torie means it when she says she thanks everyone who gives to IUP.
You enable us to excel in the classroom.
And this is a picture of me.
I received a scholarship this year, too.
You'll see more about my scholarship story in the spring edition of IUP magazine.
I want you to know that your generosity will help us go out into the world
and make it a better place and help us reach all our hopes and dreams.
On behalf of all the students, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving,
I thank you.
