Waking up this early in Malacca can only mean one thing - we're off to get some dim sum!
It is time for our Cantonese breakfast and fortunately for us it is only two shops away
from our hotel.
Some dim sum sir? Yes, please. Do you like this one? Yes. Okay. Thank you! That is great.
Here is our first course feast. We have a nice assortment of different types of dim
sum. I'll tell you what we've got down here. This is a barbecue pork steamed bun. Over
here we've got the shrimp dim sum in bite sizes. This one here is made with sesame seeds
and it has sort of a sweet sesame sauce inside and over here these appear to be deep-fried
This is a Cantonese dish from Southern China. It originally wasn't meant to be a main course
meal. It was just something to accompany tea but it became so popular that people now eat
it for breakfast, lunch and sometimes even dinner. Yeah, it is especially popular for
breakfast. It is most famous in Hong Kong. I'll just take this one here. The secret,
that I have been finding, is that it is awesome in Malacca, Malaysia and also in Penang as
well for anyone traveling in George Town. Why am I struggling? Chopstick rookie!
How is the shrimp? It is really tasty.
Dim sum is my absolute favorite breakfast meal not just in Malaysia or even in Hong
Kong but all of Asia. I've been craving and looking forward to this for a long time. I've
come to this restaurant before, the last time was about three years ago, so I'm feeling
right in my element right now. It is awesome!
We've been rising pretty early to come out here - 7:30 in the morning.
What is in that one? I'm just cutting up the barbecue pork bun. It's got a really nice
sauce here. That is one of my favorites.
Oh yeah. What do you like about dim sum for breakfast? Okay, now I look like a chipmunk.
I like all of the different varieties that they have and they just bring the trays to
the table and you just pick out whatever you think looks tasty. It is nice.
