I think it's a misnomer trying to set someone's expectations that the mortgage process is
going to be stress free. I think that the thing
that should be done as a loan officer is to try and walk people through
where the hiccups might be in their specific file and so what you want to do...
what I try to do is have an understanding of
what the qualifications are of the borrower and what things are in their file that just
might be difficult. So I can say to them... "as a result of you having switched
jobs last year we are going to need multiple W2s" or we
know that an underwriter is going to ask you
for certain things that are on your credit report. So
giving as much information up front will not necessarily make the mortgage process stress-free
but it gives someone a path that they know they're going to be traversing
to get to the finish line.
