What's up guys! Welcome back to TastySauces.com
I'm your host Billy D and today we're heading down to Austin, Texas and
we're going to try a staple, big time BBQ that has been popular there for over 3
decades.
We're talking about Austin's Own Barbecue Sauce
Now today we got a special treat as they sent me a few different flavors to try out.
We got their
Regular Mild, their Medium, and for your heat addicts,
we got their Chipotle - Hot variety.
So let's go ahead and jump into this little taste test. Now, I am looking at the Mild variety.
These are all tomato-based barbecue sauces so heavy ketchup base
and some white vinegar, brown sugar, and they also have some
hickory smoke flavoring, some sugar, spices,
and some black pepper in there. Just by looking at the sauce you can see little
bits of pepper in there
Yes, it gives off a
You definitely get that hickory smoke out of their
It is a pretty medium consistency
It has got a nice little caramel color to it
See how this stacks up. I haven't had the pleasure of trying this one before so
let's see.
Mmm
It is nice and sweet. Then, has we should has a nice little smoke flavoring in there.
I am not getting a whole lot of heat out of this one.
But it's got a nice little flavor.
Yes, the mild is pretty good. It's got that nice little sweet taste and not a whole lot of heat.
As far as my five-star scale, I'll give it a solid 4. As far as the heat
or spiciness scale, I'll give it a 1 on that level.
Now, checking out the the Medium edition.
This one has a little bit more heat. As far as the ingredients,
everything looks the same except they have added some Cayenne
Pepper in there.
So it should add just a little bit more heat in there.
Yeah, I can smell it a little bit. Getting a little drizzle.
About the same consistency and everything since the
basic recipe is the same.
it tastes about the same just a little bit more heat
but not a whole lot
As far as this one, I am going to go ahead and give this one a 4 as well.
The heat level was just a tiny bit hotter so I would give it a 2 on the spicy scale.
But not bad. Now, moving on to the Hot Chipotle,
It looks like the basis is pretty much the same except instead of just adding some
Cayenne Pepper
they have even put some Chipotle Peppers and Habanero Peppers in there.
Should be the hottest. It has got that nice hickory smoke smell
still
Not bad. The heat kind of hits you right off the bat but then it just suddenly goes away
As far as the 5 star scale, I am going to give all these sauces a 4. guys before
But as far as the heat level on this one,
it did feel a little bit hotter so I would give this one 4 out of 10.
Definitely want to check these sauces out. Austin's Own Barbecue Sauce. They got them at
Central Market. Thank you guys for watching and
I'll talk to you guys later. Bye.
