Katie's a very special young lady
She was...
incredibly wise beyond her years
always
someone that was sharing thinking of others and
I know that every parent may feel that way, a little bit biased,
but there was something very special between Katie and I
Being an organ donor
was something that...she
felt very strongly about
knowing that somehow someone else
might have
new life or more fullness that never would have been possible without that gift she was able to share
no question
that's what she wanted to do
Generous souls like Katie, they amaze me.
I know. I received a transplant from a young man that died suddenly.
I wish I could find a way to thank him.
I have two kids.
I wish my donor could meet them.
So they could tell him "thank you" for
everything he's done for their mom.
I too am one of those eternally grateful people
who wouldn't be alive if it weren't for the
selfless generosity of someone who believed in the goodness of being a donor.
I hope he's out there, somewhere
and can here this.
My friend,
I built this porch.
It may not sound important you, but eight months ago
I was near death
I was being kept alive
by tubes and wires, my heart was barely working.
I never expected your gift
I never expected to be here today
Every time I come out here
I think about you
and your gift.
If I could talk to my donor,
I would thank him
from the bottom of my heart
I was resigned that I would never be able to
to ski or to run and play with my daughter again
If you had a kid yourself
I know that you would know
how important that is to a dad.
My wife and I are following your example
You've shown the importance of registering our desire
to help others
through organ and tissue donation. And we've done that.
My husband Dale
He was such a caring, giving individual in life that it was only right that in
death
he also chose to share
Dale was so compassionate
and filled with life
and he continues to live on by having shared the gift of
tissue.
Through donation, Dale has been able to help one hundred and nineteen people
in twenty two states
and three countries.
At LifeNet Heath,
we see every day how selfless and giving people can be.
For more than thirty years, we've been dedicated to our mission of saving lives
and restoring health
in Virginia
across the United States
and around the world.
Our mission of saving lives and restoring health
is a commitment we cherish every day.
We se daily the generosity of compassionate people
and the miracles their generosity allows us to perform.
In our relatively short history, LifeNet Health
has helped to save over seven thousand lives,
helped to heal more than two million people throughout the world, and
supported over ten thousand families of organ and tissue donors in their time of
grief.
And our mission continues to grow
as the need for life-saving and life-healing transplants grows.
Now, we are expanding our mission to include new technologies to help even more
people.
Our new institute of regenerative medicine is at the forefront of science
and technology.
We're doing groundbreaking research in cellular therapies
to help meet the world's demands
for more solutions to saving lives
and restoring health.
As a non-profit organization, we are dependent on those who see the value of
being organ and tissue donors
and we rely on the support of people like you who understand our mission and
our commitment
to saving lives and restoring health.
It's hard to put into words
how much you miss someone that is
that close.
Katie continues to live on in her organs
that were transplanted
in others
and brings fuller life and joy every day
to those who
blessed to receive that gift.
There is not a day that goes by that she is not with me
she's part of this project today as much as i'm part of the project. So,
it's a partnership that continues
We hope you too can see the value becoming part of the LifeNet Health
mission.
We encourage you to register to become donors and to tell others about our
mission.
Thank you for your continued support.
Thank you.
From both Dale and I,
thank you, LifeNet Health.
