as my job is not to have a chat with the chair
However, it is my job to welcome you to the Bluecoat
to this fantastic space that we’ve got which we’re delighted to be able to share with a whole range of partners
and you’ll perhaps see downstairs the Arabic Arts Festival that’s running at the present time
but it’s quite special that we-oh there you are, i wondered where you were, there's Ruth
it’s quite special to have Ruth and her team, DaDa, in the building
because it brings a whole new dimension to our work
And I can declare that Ruth did recruit me to the board of the Bluecoat
nothing in that really is there Ruth at all, but I’ve enjoyed my period of time as Chair
We’ve been presenting arts for over a hundred years now, but I do feel that in this climate
with the level of creative communities that we have within this building, who themselves create great work
it’s a pleasure to be here, and it’s also a really I think important statement to make outside
that we are serious about partnerships, and that we’re serious about the type of work that our partners put on
And I’ve been privileged in the past to be, I have to say on the sidelines of disability arts
I’ve watched North West DAF grow into DaDa, and then came back from a period of time in London just to see actually what DaDa had become
and this festival had become, and I do feel that having had the privilege of travelling round the world with, the British Council
that I can safely say that this DaDaFest festival is one of the most unique, and one of the best festivals that happens internationally, globally
Not sure about that intergalactic stuff yet, but I could work on it if you would like me to
So can I say a very, very big welcome to you all
and I hope you have a fantastic time, and, I’m really looking forward to seeing the exhibition
I haven’t seen it yet either, so I think that will be a great start to a great festival
Thank you very much
