When you think about your future, what do you see? What goals do you have?
The road may have twists and turns,
but good health is the key to staying on-track.
That's where National Prevention Week comes in.
National Prevention Week 2014 is a time for people of all ages
to help prevent alcohol, and drug usage, before they begin;
and a time for promoting good mental health.
Did you know that more than 8 million adults thought about suicide last year?
Did you also know that 9 million people under 21 drink alcohol each year,
or that nearly one in five kids has tried cigarettes by eight grade?
Our health is important for our happiness and success.
And when we feel good, we can help the people around us be their best too.
So how can we stay on the road to good health?
By participating in sports and activities in school.
And spending our free time doing hobbies we enjoy.
By asking for help if we feel sad or stressed out.
By having open conversations about drugs and alcohol
with our parents and friends.
By participating in National Prevention Week 2014.
Because it's our lives, our health and our future.
National Prevention Week is May 18 through the 24th.
Visit the National Prevention Week website for more information.
