In health news, United Kingdom researchers find that time spent in green spaces improves
mental well-being. Professor Jules Pretty and Dr. Jo Barton of the Department of Biological
Sciences of the University of Essex examined 10 previous studies involving 1,250 people
. The scientists discovered that activities such as walking or cycling in nature led to
an almost immediate improvement in mood and self-esteem. Published in the journal “Environmental
Science and Technology,” the study noted that exercising in areas containing water
such as a river or lake also produced strong positive results. Our thankfulness, Professor
Jules Pretty and Dr. Jo Barton, for highlighting the preciousness of our natural world. May
we do everything possible to safeguard our immensely nourishing and verdant eco-sphere,
starting with the planet-protecting vegan diet.
