Through this tutorial you learn how to determine which courses have a
waitlist and the steps to be placed on and removed from a waitlist.
To check waitlist availability through MyPage simply follow the normal steps to
complete a class search as you set up your schedule.
Once logged onto MyPage click on the student tab.
On the far right side of the screen you will see a box titled registration tools.
Click on the add or drop classes link.
Next select your term and click submit.
At the bottom of this page is your class worksheet. You will see a row of CRN boxes.
Beneath the class worksheet click on class search.
Now select the information for the class you are looking for.
You must always select at least the subject.
Do not be too specific this can limit the course options available.
Once you have chosen the course information
you should now click submit.
Once your class search results have pulled up you should see a list of
courses with all general information on the course.
On the far left as you may see the letter C
indicating that the course is closed. At the top of the page towards the middle
you'll see a row of letters.
Cap stands for capacity. The number of seats being offered in the course.
Act is a number of seats actually taken by other students.
Rem is the remaining number of seats available in the course.
WL stands for waitlist.
WL capacity is the limit of capacity offered on the waitlist.
WL actual shows how many spots have been taken on the waitlist.
WL Remaining is how many actual spots are still available on the waitlist.
If you find a course that fits your schedule but is closed you can see if
there's a waitlist option and how many spots are available.
If the waitlist cap is zero the course does not offer a waitlist option.
you should write down CRN on the left of the screen.
Once you have the CRN click on the add to worksheet button at the bottom of
the page. This'll take you back to your worksheet.
Type CRN into one of the boxes and submit changes.
A registration add error will appear informing you that the course is closed.
If the course has a waitlist option it will list how many people are on the
waitlist and you'll be given the option to be placed on the waitlist or not.
If you select to be placed on the waitlist the course will appear on your current
schedule with the status waitlisted.
This does not mean you're added into the course. It means you're officially placed on
a list waiting for an open seat.
Once you have accepted the waitlist you will have the option to drop off the
waitlist if you choose.
If the waitlist is full you'll receive a different registration add errors message.
The message will inform you that the courses closed and the waitlist is full.
The course will also appear in your student detailed schedule. Accessed
through the student portal on your student tab.
The detailed schedule will show the same course information as you're registered courses.
With the waitlist course the status will show when you add it to the list
and what position you are on the list.
Remember adding to the waitlist does not guarantee a seat in the course.
Always have a second option to make sure you have the credits wanted for your
academic goals or needed for financial aid requirements.
Adding to a waitlist does not override any prerequisites, corequisties or time conflicts.
Make sure to take care of any override issues that may occur.
Make sure to check your MyPage email and waitlist position. You can move
up the list quickly if other students drop from the list.
If you do not register within your twenty-four hour time period the seat
will be offered to the next waitlisted student.
Students will receive any e-mail notification when the course becomes
available to them.
Students will have twenty-four hours to add the course. If the course is not added
within the timeframe given the course will no longer be available to the student.
It will then be offered to the next waitlisted student.
The waitlist option will continue to operate during the seven-day add period.
On the last day to add classes waitlisted students will have less than twenty-four
hours to add the course needed. You will have up to 11:59 pm on the
last day to add.
