30 Minutes or less
Starred by Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson,
30 minutes or less shows us an incredible day in a life of an otherwise ordinary guy.
Jesses’ character is Nick, a pizza boy that apparently has no future.
But, when he feels his life threatens, he performs a daring act of stupidity.
Of course, he doesn’t do it alone. His friend Chet, Aziz’s character, helps him.
At first, this comedy seems to make no sense but, at the end. . .
it really is a comedy with no other purpose than to make you laugh
and to have a good time without asking yourself: what in the world have I come to watch?
I mean, if you want to watch 30 minutes or less
because you are looking for an art film,
I have to tell you that this is definitely not the one to watch.
Actually, this is a rough comedy with some farce,
and it also has very well defined characters.
However, Aziz’s performance sometimes seems to be part of his stand up comedy routine
rather than the scene of a movie. In any case he made me laugh.
On the other hand, Danny McBride’s character is the son of a retired Marine’s Mayor.
It’s never explained where is he coming from, what does he do, not even why is he in the place he is at.
Now, because of the kind of movie, I believe that does not matter.
The only thing that is explained is that he is in his 30’s and has no life.
But, since his dad has money, he still lives like a teen.
In fact, he still charges his dad 10 dollars an hr to clean the pool.
Nick is Danny’s sidekick.
His character is one of those weird geniuses.
I mean, when he deals with something he likes, he is a brilliant and a total expert.
However, he doesn’t know how to deal with women
and some other things in life are far from understandable facts.
I think the plot is properly explained.
Although, sometimes the scenes seem to be out of order
but I don’t know if this is the result of bad editing,
or maybe because the actors were delivering a great ad-libbing performance.
My guess it that at least in 4 scenes they added to the script.
Congratulations! The scenes look great!
I mean, that is if I’m right about them ad-libbing performance.
About FX and stuff, I believe they did a good job.
The car chase, the explosions, etc. look very good.
Again, taking in account the kind of movie,
I believe the production value exceeded the audience’s expectations.
30 minutes or less provides you with some funny and complex moments,
but also some totally stupid.
If you go watch it with your significant other,
it will set a good mood for the rest of the evening.
If you go with your friends, it will be the perfect excuse to go party right after it!
One thing is sure. The morale of the story is that
anybody, under the right circumstances,
is capable of accomplishing extraordinary feats as long as their objectives are clearly set.
Thanks for watching! And remember, the best movie critic is you! See you next time!
