Here at Allied Wire and Cable, we believe that family is number one. And by family,
we’re not just talking about the people here at the company, but the great community
we have around us.
As a family-owned and operated business, we are a company built on values. And those values,
like putting people first, and knowing that you deserve personal attention and the best
customer service possible, have allowed us to form some great relationships over the
years.
We are very thankful for all of the wonderful people we have around us, and we figure there
is no better time than during the holiday season to give a little back.
Every year, we choose one week in December to donate a percentage of all sales to charity.
Last year, we made a large donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"Dennis and Karen from Make-a-Wish have been doing this for a lot of years, it's a great
charity. And we're all happy to…everyone here contributed and got their customers excited.
Great job to everyone, and thanks again from Make-a-Wish."
This year when we asked you to vote for a charity, you chose Make-A-Wish once again!
We are happy to announce that Make-A-Wish received a donation of $11,808 to help grant
the wishes of ill children.
Our other charities, including the ASPCA, the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes,
Meals on Wheels and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation all received smaller donations of $250 each.
We thank you for helping to make it possible!
Continuing another tradition, Allied participated in The Angel Tree program run by Manna on
Main Street in Lansdale. Volunteers signed up to receive a tag from a child in need,
listing their age, interests, and two gifts they would like from Santa for Christmas.
Allied employees were proud to contribute Angel Tree gifts for 25 different children
this year!
While programs like these are great ways to give back, it is important not to forget the
people right in our own neighborhoods. This year, Allied helped a Boyertown family struggling
to keep up with medical bills and just to keep food on the table. Allied employees gathered
food, toys, clothes, and monetary donations to help make this family’s holidays a little
more cheerful, and these difficult times a little easier.
As part of our year-round efforts to give back to the community, Allied also hosts American
Red Cross Blood Drives. These are important efforts all twelve months of the year, but
during the winter months, these drives are especially important. The weather keeps more
people indoors and out of donation centers, but the need for blood doesn’t drop off.
At Allied, employees and their friends and families took just a few minutes out of their
day to donate life-giving blood, knowing that one donation can save up to three lives. To
learn how your company can host an American Red Cross Blood Drive, visit www.givelife.org.
Once again this year, Allied contributed to our heroic troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
While we are at home with our families and friends for the holidays, they are half-way
around the world, fighting for the freedoms we hold dear. Working with sites like USO.com,
and AnySoldier.com, our employees put together care packages of treats and necessities that
let our service personnel know someone is thinking of them back home.
(Voice of AWC's Deb Piergrossi) "My son wrote a little note…'My name is Steven Charles
Kukulski. I have been in the US army for three years now. It is a great honor to serve my
country, and I am blessed enough to have a wonderful family who supports me. I know what
it is like to be away from home for long periods of time, and wait for those care packages
to come and make my day. One year I had my mom send extra stuff to me so I could give
it out to a couple of my buddies that didn't receive any packages from home. These soldiers
truly appreciate the kindness that strangers offer when they send care packages. It means
so much to know that someone thought of you, and wants to thank you for your service, and
I would like to thank you all and wish you a happy holiday.'"
Thank you again for helping us with our 2010 Charity Week, and all of our other charitable
efforts. Together, we can all make the holidays a little better for people in need.
“Happy Holidays!”
