I'm gonna show how to
edit the closed captioning
that YouTube adds automatically to your videos.
The voice-to-text feature
doesn't always work that well and so we're going to look at
an example and then we'll make some changes to that.
So, we're in YouTube. We're gonna go to our Lakeland Learning Technologies
YouTube channel.
We'll look at our videos here and we're gonna pick
sharing Google Docs with your Google Community - that's when our videos be
placed in [in out channel].
I'm actually going to move ahead [in the timeline]
because I've already done a little bit of
editing in here and I wanna start where its not lookin so good.
So, I've got closed captioning turned on
and I'm going to play you can read what happens with the closed captions.
"Once it's loaded it'll have a share button on it just click the share button
and then
you're going to select the share link via Google Plus"
So, you can see that
it does a pretty good job, but it doesn't capitalize, it doesn't use any
punctuation
and some of the words are not correct. So we're going to
learn how to change that. At the top of our page
there's an upload button right next to it - we drop that down.
And we're going to select the video manager. We need to go into our Video
Manager to manage the videos.
This is the one we were just looking at.
There's an edit button under the title and so I'm going to drop that down
and select captions. That'll take me to the video
and then we can click on automatic captions
and that will help us
to see what actually has been
added to it. So if we play
along with this
and then we can go ahead and change those captions.
Click on the play button
"I'm going to demonstrate
how to share something from your Google Drive."
So the translate "who's going to demonstrate" from "I'm going to demonstrate"
and "something from your mobile drive"
instead of "something from your Google Drive".
So, I'm going to change this to "I'm" and here
I'm gonna change this to "Google Drive".
Now continue...
"into your Google Community" and here it says "local community"
Here I'm just going to change that to "Global" period.
"So you wanna open up
your Google Drive"...
and just, um...
when you're done, just save it.
And it will over write and then when you play it
"I'm going to demonstrate
share something from your Google Drive in to your Google Community".
That's it! That's all you have to do to change that.
and actually it doesn't take very long as your video in not especially long
and it works pretty well
