>> At the beginning of was worried about when I go to college I won't --
I might have some struggles like trying to communicate and advocate for myself.
>> A few of us and I have more impulse issues.
We tend to talk before we think.
>> For me it's trying to fit in and also, like, trying to maintain
like some behaviors I can't easily control.
>> The eye contact used to be something that whenever I looked at someone I felt
like my eyes were burning out of the back of my head.
>> Until I heard of the autism spectrum, like, navigation program I was relieved.
They gave me quite a lot of help.
People out there are nice.
That's all I can say.

>> The vision I had for the ASN program, the autism spectrum navigator program came to me
because some of the most compelling students I've met have been students on the spectrum.
They would come.
They would take a couple of classes and they'd do really well.
And when they started going to full-time it seemed that they would become so overwhelmed,
they'd either fail all their classes or withdraw leaving the college.
Sarah, who is an exuberant program manager, took on the task of building the program
and we started enrolling students.
We helped these students access the whole full college experience.
>> I'm really really happy that we are able to do our classes for these students with canvas.
I can't really imagine doing it a different way.
As an instructor it was so easy for me to set it up and for the students it's so easy.
Our students in particular find canvas a really nice organizational tool.
One thing was very important to me was that I wanted to be able
to have a good discussion board feature for them.
Really, that's my most exciting thing is that they can communicate with each other on canvas.
I love it so much.
And that they can do it by video or audio or by typing.
So it's really lovely all the way around.
>> We're learning about ourselves.
We're learning how to function in college and in life.
And it's just really helping us develop.
>> Everyone experiences challenges.
It's just how you handle them.
How you over come them.
What supports, intervention you make.
>> Canvas has helped immensely.
It's aloud me to turn in my assignments on-line
and I'm much better typing then I am at handwriting.
I mean, if you compare my handwriting
to a five year olds the five-year-olds will probably beat me out.
>> I can keep track of all my goals.
Keep track of all my schedules.
All my work.
Doing what needs to be done.
>> It's very difficult until we used canvas.
It's a helpful tool to like mix into society and try and socialize
and spread your mind towards others.
