You're watching HowToPlayAnySong.com. My name is Joe Wiles and today we're looking
at Welcome to the Jungle by Guns 'N Roses from their 1987 Appetite for Destruction record
and interestingly even though the lyrics were written while Axl was in Seattle, which happens
to be bassist Duff McKagan's hometown, he wrote about Los Angeles and interestingly
the video takes place in New York of all places .
In his video set we're going to be talking
about the lead riff over the introduction, the rhythm riff over the introduction, as
well as the verse riff and even the chorus riff but first let's get started on the famous
intro lead.
Now the introductory riff to Welcome to the Jungle,it'll start on the 4th
fret of the G. Now between every note we're going to hit the open B string and then go
back to the original note. So lets hit the note on the G string the 4th
fret, then we'll hit the open B string, then back to the G. So the first three notes
sound like this. Now we're going to go down to the 2nd fret
of that same string, 2nd fret of the G do the same 2nd fret of the G to the open B back
to the 2nd fret of the G. That sounds like this.
Now we're going to go to the 4th fret of the D right here. We're going to do the
same action, hit that one, open B, back to the D, the 2nd fret of the D, hit the open
B, back to the D. Then we're going to hit the open D, follow
it with the open B. Just once, we're not going to go back to the open D and then we're
going to hit the 2nd fret of the A right here, and the end it off with the open B. All together
it sounds like this. Now it helps a lot if you have a delay peddle.
It really carries the sound so if you do have a delay peddle go ahead and use it. If you
don't it will still sound fine without it but this is what it should sound like with
the delay peddle. All right lets try that with the metronome here we go, one, two, one,
two, three. That's it.
