My name is Melanie Rickey and I'm a London-based fashion editor and blogger.
I've worked for several newspapers, was one of the launch editors of Grazia.
For Westfield, I'm their fashion advisor
and I advise them on projects, fashion magazines for them,
e-zines, highlighting the big trends that are going to be in the following season.
London has such rich seam when it comes to fashion.
It's full of originality. Our most famous designers are
mavericks, they are rule-breakers. You've got Mary Quant,
Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen. All of them set new
fashion rules.
When you come to Westfield you have this
idea that you are entering a monument of shopping, You can wander
around, just be like a little bee
to honey finding different little shops, finding new shops,
or finding familiar shops and just kind of getting your fill of
whatever it is you want. People here experiment with fashion. They don't just do it with designer
clothes, they do it from high street to high-fashion
A place like this would be a perfect place to come to get all of that in one.
Westfield setting up in east and west London has
totally transform both ends of the city, especially in the east where the
Olympics took place.
Coming to a Westfield is an all-day
experience. You can eat here, you can hang out here, you can meet your friends, but
more than anything
you can do all the shopping you need in one place. London is such an inspiring
city. As a Londoner,
where I would go to get inspired? It could be a bar
in central London, it could be a coffee shop in Brick Lane,
could be Portobello Market. It's just a place with
so much energy. There are so many people. There's so much inspiration flying around.
Different parts of London have different personalities. If you want to be inspired,
this is the place to come.
