Hi, my name is Rebecca Morgan and I'm the voice activation tester
here at the Digital Accessibility Centre, and today I'll be looking at Access iQ.
The voice activation user will use a website by using a series of commands
which will then bring up tags containing numbers
and then use numbers to click on specific links that they want to use.
Link.
As you can see, the links do have tags.
That's one of the things that the voice activation user will check for
is that all links are tagged and if the tags are in alignment with the links they correspond with.
Here they are in alignment but the issue is that the first two tags appear to be for invisible links
as there's nothing visible for them to correspond with.
After an investigation, it was found that there are two skip links here that appear when you tag onto them
so Dragon is picking up the loose links.
Also, the links for Twitter and Google and LinkedIn links next to the register link are so close together
that means that the tags overlap
thus obscuring the numbers, and meaning that the voice activation user might have difficulty
being able to access those links through using their normal means.
Also on this page there is a carousel that changes every seven seconds.
There is no obvious - or visually I can't see, a pause button. This is an issue because
the carousel contains a link which would then change every seven seconds
and if the voice activation user would want to click on a specific link
by the time they'd read that, read the content, it might have already changed
before they had a chance to actually click on it.
With there being no pause button, there's no way to stop it
so they can click on the one that they want.
That's all for on this page.
There is an issue here with Dragon tagging links that the user can't see.
Naturally Dragon shows what's happening
Link.
As you can see down the side, there are about 20-30 links all clustered together
which would be very confusing for any user, or particularly ones who are using Dragon.
The reason for this is actually that when you click on it with a mouse
once they are clicked on, they drop down.
Link.
Once they open, they're not as much as they should.
But then again it's not clear when you look at them that the links actually drop down
when you click on them.
So there are two recommendations here.
One would be that the links have down-pointing arrows to indicate
there's one click when they drop down
and secondly, that Dragon shouldn't be picking up the links that the user cannot see.
