Hello everybody, we're in Leukerbad at this moment, as you see surrounding by high mountains.
So, we're in the middle of the Alps in Switzerland...and what do you know of Switzerland? Well, it's
cheese and chocolate. But for cheese and chocolate, you need milk! So, we have plenty of cows...and
what do we do with the cows? We bring them to the most beautiful spots of Switzerland.
So, some of the lucky cows, they get dressed up for this very special day. They've got
some flowers on their head. This tradition is actually existing for already hundreds
of years. And, as you also see, the small cows, calves, they wear little bells and then
the bigger cows have a bigger bell and then the real strong ones, they are wearing a big
big big bell. So, the big bells those big cows are wearing are actually weighing in
between 15 and 20 kilos. Imagine. So, also with the cows here in Switzerland, you've
got different competitions. Competitions of beauty. So, the beautiful cows who won a prize,
you can see the special bells with the special markings and the year in which they won.
As you can see, Swiss cows are very fit. So, sometimes it is very hard to follow them...that
fast they are running. But, sometimes they are also enjoying the journey, and enjoying
the beautiful view, as we are...
So, the farmer, he's walking up the mountain now with his whole family. And he's actually
staying up the whole summer during two or three months up the mountain with his cows.
"Only two times in one year. Once up, once down."
