Tofino is on the west coast of Vancouver island.
The closest major city would be about a three hour drive.
There aren't a lot of roads on the west coast, so most of the exploring you do would be by
boat or by by plane.
So you can see this is the peninsula that Tofino is on. There are just hundreds of islands
and when you show the whole island there are just hundreds of miles of unexplored area.
A friend of mine, he found this wave on Google Earth.
I didn't really know what he was talking about when he first said that.
And then he showed me the wave and I was like, whoa this is like, the
coolest thing I've ever seen. You know, that really got me going.
I just started searching after that and I want to try to find a better wave than that.
After we discover a wave on Google Earth, there are endless sites we can look at for
weather forecasting.
We can keep an eye on a weather buoy that gives you a swell report hourly and if we
get on it, we can jump in the boat and get some good waves later that day.
I'm hoping to find a wave that's the best wave I've ever surfed.
That's what I want to find.
To go to a spot that few people have surfed ever before thats been breaking for hundreds,
maybe even thousands of years, that kinda keeps you wondering what else is out there
and what else we could possibly find.
