Yes, absolutely. I appreciate that’s something that is especially for this population, that
they will have concerns about. That what they say to their counselor in their therapy session
will be kept confidential. And absolutely, none of that information will go to the UNHCR
or their lawyers, or RAC or to the immigration department, unless the client gives us written
permission written consent to do so. There is a standard consent form whereby a client
signs an agreement to say that yes they want counseling, however in the event that the
counselor feels that the client is at risk to him or herself, or at risk to someone else
then confidentialities will not be broken.
