Hello, I'm Karen White, associate of the chancellor and director of a brand new program here at the
University of California, Riverside called Operation Education.
Operation Education is the nation's leading scholarship assistance program for disabled
veterans to help them
earn and obtain their college degree.
The scholarship program provides three kinds of support;
financial,
academic and social. We encourage the students to take advantage of programs
that are already available
here on campus and the Riverside community, to make their time on campus more successful,
and a happier and more pleasant experience.
[Carew] Hi, I'm Aaron Carew,
fourth-year theater major here at UCR.
I'm also a veteran. Operation Education has the chance to really help a lot of veterans.
Whether it is academic, financial or just moral support. The Student Special Services,
that office has been amazing. They really
go the extra mile to make sure that all the veterans are taken care of. Whether it's
specialized tools for the classroom or just
having an ear to listen to, I think that it can really do a lot of good here for
UCR vets. [White] This is a way that he can
help out. To do something special for those who have done so much for us.
So I strongly encourage that you get involved. Tell everybody you know about the program,
give as much as you can to make sure that this program goes on forever and can support as many
students as possible. But please, spread the word. This is a great program.
[Carew] Thank you, Operation Education. [White] Thanks Aaron.
