Kathleen Dahl: Bover was founded in 1996, in Barcelona,
Spain, in the outskirts of the city in a town called Cardedeo. It's beautiful.
All of this was kind of inspired by Joana Bover, who's the general
manager and creative lead behind the product. Essentially, it had begun very
casually over a dinner with some architectural friends, but today we are
represented in over 40 countries.
This collection was inspired by an indoor pendant made of hand
wrapped, translucent ribbon that was released in 2004. And essentially,
what we've done is we've brought it outdoors. So, instead of ribbon, we now
have a polyethylene plastic, and everything is conceived for the exterior.
The base, here, can be bolted to the ground, and the pendant, which is
right behind me, can have the electrical running from above or below. So,
really versatile.
So, Bover, right now, is really trying to rethink outdoor spaces with
decorative illumination. This is one of our newest collections in 2013.
There's four colors and three formats. So, the line itself is called
Amphora, and essentially what we have are floor based lamps with a
polyethylene synthetic fiber that's hand woven. So, you'll see it's very
beautiful. The technique is perfected by people with tremendous expertise,
and the light source is protected with a polyethylene ellipse. So, these
have an I-P 55 and they're conceived for outdoors.
