What's up guys, Preston here another episode of Grappler Going Abroad. As a lot of you
guys know, especially USA JET Program applicants, the time to start hearing back our results
from our interview is coming up. Which is awesome, it means that our wait is almost
over. Unless you get the alternate position and then you got to wait, more or less longer.
Recently I joined a group on facebook, it's called the "2016 JET Program Applicants,"
and it's all the applicants from the UK, the USA, Singapore, South Africa, Australia. I
keep seeing this question pop up all the time, is "I'm so confused about the FBI Background
Check. Where do I get my fingerprints done? Where do I do this, do that?" Now I've already
done previous videos covering the FBI Background Check because it's a pretty aggravating process
and as you guys know from my previous videos, I submitted my FBI Background Check way early.
I mailed it in with my mail copy of my application. The first question I'm seeing a lot on these
forums and this facebook group is, "Where do I get my fingerprints done?" For some reason
this seems to be a huge hurtle for people to get over to get their fingerprints taken.
First off, when I was getting my FBI Background Check done, I went to my town's police department
first to figure out how to get my fingerprints, assuming that the police department would
at least be able to point me in the right direction if not, be able to do them for me.
So first step, go to your local police station, ask if they do fingerprints there, and if
they don't, no big deal, ask them where you can get your fingerprints done. I got forwarded
to CCBI in Wake County, North Carolina to get my fingerprints done. From there it was
a pretty painless process, you go there, you either set up an appointment or you just walk
in. Usually they're not too busy. They use a digital scanner to take your fingerprints.
So what you get is you get these cards, right? It has all of your fingerprints, from all
5 to each individual finger. So that's pretty straightforward. That answers that first question
of where you get your card. Now the other question is, "What do I need to put on my
fingerprint card, my social security number?" Generally, the way it worked for me, is you
don't have to put much more information than what's already put on your card. I chose to
put my social security number on there just to make it easier for them to find my information.
But yeah, you don't have to do much else besides what they already have on the fingerprint
card for you. Now, the next step is to mail it to the FBI's CJIS Division out in West
Virginia. On the application that you're supposed to submit with your fingerprint card, they
will give you the address of where to mail it to. It's all pretty self explanatory once
you get past the fingerprint. It literally just takes a bit of digging to figure out
where you need to get your fingerprints done. It's really not all that hard. But yeah, once
you mail it in it's going to be at least 12 weeks before the JET Program get's your results.
You're not having it sent to you. I had it sent to me because I was mailing it in with
my mail application since I was ahead of the curb, I was able to do that. For you guys,
you're sending it straight to your interviewing consulate. So for me, if I was doing this
right now, I would be having it sent to the embassy of Japan in Washington D.C. But yeah,
that's all that I have for you guys today. Hopefully, you guys found this helpful, because
it seems to be a whole lot of people struggling with their FBI Background Checks right now.
If you haven't got it done yet, do it soon. I.E. do it in the next week, because it's
going to take 12 weeks and you don't want to be disqualified for not having your background
check, even if you do get shortlisted or alternate. But that's all I got for you guys. If you
like this video, please like it, share it, comment on it. Just a reminder, I have my
patreon page open. So if you feel like donating to me so I can liquidate my student loans,
continue putting out good content, and help subsidize my moving to Japan, please check
out my patreon page. It's going to be at the end of this video and it's also going to be
in my links in my channel banner. Also, most of all, if you guys like my videos or like
this video, please be sure to hit that subscribe button. But yeah, that's all that I got for
you guys. My name is Preston and this has been Grappler Going Abroad.
