Welcome to Yamaha Musicsoft's guide to downloading MIDI Songs and Styles.
You can download Songs and Styles just like any other file on your computer.
To download, first click the download link for your order, either on your order complete page or in your order history.
You’ll be prompted to choose to open or download the file.
Choose to save the file.
You can save it anywhere you want.
Choose a location and click ok to save it.
Most files come as .zip files, which means they’ve been compressed and can’t be read by your keyboard.
On most Windows computers, you can unzip the file by double clicking it, then dragging the file that appears into another location.
If this doesn’t work for you, you can download the free WinZip application at www.winzip.com.
The process will be basically the same on a Macintosh.
If you need a program to unzip the files, you can download stuffit expander at www.stuffit.com.
So, once you have the file downloaded and unzipped, how do you get it on to your keyboard?
If your keyboard has a USB to Device port, the easiest way is to use a USB flash drive.
After you’ve downloaded a file, and made sure that is unzipped,
you can plug a USB flash drive into your computer, and just drag the file onto the drive.
Then, remove the drive from your computer and insert it into the USB to Device port on your keyboard.
Now, you can save the file on your keyboard, or start using it immediately.
Either way, you first need to find the file on your USB drive.
To do so, navigate to the USB drive on your keyboard.
From here you can select the file to load it directly from the drive,
or copy and paste the file to your user files, saving it for later use.
If your instrument doesn’t have a USB to Device port, you can use a floppy disk,
or a USB cable connection, along with Yamaha’s MusicSoft Downloader software, to get the file onto your keyboard.
To use a floppy disk or smart media card, the procedure is almost exactly the same as using a USB flash drive.
Just insert a blank disk into your computer and then drag your file onto the disk.
Then insert the disk in your keyboard and transfer it the same way you would from a USB drive.
If your keyboard has a USB to host port, or Midi in and out ports you can also transfer files over a USB connection.
If you’ve never set up a connection between your computer and your keyboard with a USB-MIDI connection,
you can learn how to do this in our USB-MIDI connection video.
Once you’ve established a connection, you can transfer files to and from your instrument using the MusicSoft downloader program.
You can download the free MusicSoft Downloader program at this location. (http://www.yamahamusicsoft.com/msd)
Unfortunately, the program is only available for PC.
Mac users will need to find an alternative method of transferring files.
After installing the program, and connecting your instrument to your computer,
open the program and choose the second option on the screen, “transfer files between your PC and your Yamaha instrument”.
On the screen that appears, find the files you want to transfer to your keyboard in the bottom pane.
Select the files to transfer then click the upwards pointing “move” button.
Then, select your instrument in the bottom pane under “Electronic musical instruments”
and click the downward pointing “move” button.
This will transfer the files. 00:03:46.50,00:03:52.00 Using one of these methods you should be able to download all of your files and load them on your instrument.
