Flower Living Crab Spiders
A hot summer day,
flowers with variety of bright color petals
invite the hungry visitors.
The bees and other insects cannot resist the scent of flowers.
However, the collection of nectar and pollen is not without risk.
Hidden in the secret place of the petals,
almost unnoticeably there is a little spider,
who awaits flying insects with deadly embrace.
The tiny critters have round cephalothorax and abdomen.
The tiny eyes located on the front edge of the cephalothorax are in two rows.
Their colors are varied.
The base color is mostly white with purple strips,
but the females may have yellow as well.
They are patiently waiting for the nectar collecting victims
with widely spread front legs.
When the insect gets in reachable distance
the spider catches it quickly
and sucks the internal juice heartily.
Since it often preys on bees, it is considered a pest
The catch is sometimes not successful.
But not to worry!
Just wait patiently for the next visitor.
