Growing up in the ghettos of Chicago, I felt that there was
some uncertainty and ambiguity surrounding my life, and it was
concerning the male role models like father, brother, uncle,
and my peers that I did not want to become.
And as I got older when I started to come into my own,
I felt that ambiguity was starting to have more
of an effect on my life, so I wanted to define that
ambiguity before it defined me.
Doing undergraduate research allowed me the opportunity
to gain insight into this sense of ambiguity and,
simply said, I'm better for it.
I am a more critical, analytical,
multi-dimensional thinker.
I'm able to think objectively by at the same time assimilating
and accommodating new information into
my sense of self.
So I really appreciate the opportunity.
I am going to continue to do research because I believe
that it is the way to go.
