211, 000 jobs in the month of March. The unemploynment rate is down to 4.7%. More
Americans own their homes than in any time in history.
>>GEORGE BUSH: Good evening, we've seen triple digit swings in the stock market. Major financial
institutions have teetered on the edge of collapse,
and some have failed. We're in the midst of a serious financial crisis, and the federal
government is responding with decisive action.
>>CROWD: We pay, we owe!
>>CROWD: Obama, Obama, obama, obama!
>>BARAK OBAMA: Thank you! Thank you!
>>PERSON: Yes, we can!
>>CROWD: We want change, we want change!
>>JOHN BOEHNER: Madam speaker, Amercian families and small businesses are hurting. The economy's
been hurting but this morning in previewing the President's
speech tonight, our former colleague, the President's chief of staff, said this: "We've
rescued the economy!" Now, I'm sure that 9.5% unemploynment rate
that we have in our country today, and from most economic experts, on its way up, don't
believe that we've rescued the economy.
