You might not know about this
We are much closer to being able to provide life-saving treatment
for every severely malnourished child in the world.
This is thanks to some amazing and clever people.
It all started with some special milk,
it saved the lives of thousands and thousands of children.
But the milk could only safely be given by doctors and nurses in the hospitals.
Many people had to travel very long distances to visit the hospital.
Sometimes they got their too late.
Sometimes there were so many people, they couldn't all fit into the hospital.
Sometimes germs would spread through the hospital making already weak children even more sick.
When new special foods were developed everything changed.
Now you don't need to keep the food in the fridge,
it doesn't need to be cooked
and you don't need to add any water.
Mothers can pick up the special foods from their local health centres
and feed their children at home.
And while working with communities we can find malnourished children earlier before they get really sick.
Now instead of hundreds of thousands there will be millions of children.
