there's lots of things in life that I love. Like for example, my mom, trees, and food.
I don't know about you guys, but I love food. And recently I was really, really hungry with
a bunch of people. And we went to one of my favorite spots, maybe you've heard of it -- Golden
Corral. It's an all you can eat buffet. And you know what I did? I ate and I ate. You
know how long i ate? 'Til I was full. Until I was like satisfied. It felt good. But you
know, strangely enough, a couple hours later I got hungry again. I started getting those
pains in my stomach. Oohh, I wanted to eat again, so I did. It made me think wouldn't
it be cool if there was like a hot dog that we could buy and after eating it you would
never ever be hungry again? Or a drink that we could drink and after drinking this water
or this drink you'd never be thirsty again. What's interesting is that Jesus actually
told a women that he met at a well this very same thing. He said, "Hey, I can offer you something
to drink that you'll never ever be thirsty again." And you know the interesting thing is Jesus
wasn't talking about physical thirst, physical hunger. He was talking about spriritual thirst
and spiritual hunger. We crave satisfaction and contentment and happiness. And what Jesus
was saying was, "Hey, what I offer you is a chance to spiritually be satisfied permanently."
A lot of people try to fill that void, try to fill the hunger and thirst with lots of
different things. There's a guy in the Bible, his name is Solomon. In Ecclesiastes 2, he
was on this quest for satisfaction. He tried money and wealth, power, prestige. He tried
to find it in significant others. In all those things he tried didn't work. In fact, he got
to the end and if you read it, it says I denied my heart nothing it desired, but in the end
I found it all to be meaningless. So the question is that I bet Solomon was asking and that
I would ask is then, "What can fill my heart with genuine satisfaction?" And if you're
out there and you say the same thing, you know in your heart you know for sure "You
know what? I've been looking, I've been searching, I've been trying to fill my heart and fill
myself with all these different things. But they just don't bring me genuine satisfaction.
I'm going to tell you, "Look no further!" Because the person that can do that is Jesus
Christ. You know how he can do that? It's because he died for us. The Bible talks about
in the beginning he created us to be with him. That was the purpose, that was the plan
to be with God and fellowship with him. Things were going to go great. But then soon after
sin entered the world. When sin entered the world those sins, our sins, separated us from
God. You see God is perfect. He's holy. He can't even be in the presence of sin. So our
sin separates us from God. A lot of people think that we can remove those sins if we
do good things: go to church, read our Bibles, do more good things than bad things. Maybe
our sins will be taken away, but they can't. There's nothing actually we can do to take
away our sins. That's why Jesus came. He paid the price for our sins. He died on the cross.
When he died on the cross, in that moment our sins had the ability to be forgiven. The
Bible says that while were still sinners Christ died for us. So now all we have to do is accept
that gift. Accept what Jesus did. Believe in him, trust in him. If we do that the Bible
says that our sins will be forgiven. Now you have an opportunity to spend and have eternal
life. Eternal life doesn't have to start when you die. Eternal life starts now. It's a relationship
with Jesus. That relationship with him is the only thing that's going to bring your
soul true satisfaction. Will you consider giving your heart and giving your life, putting
your faith and your trust not in yourself, not in a significant other, not in entertainment,
or money, or any of those things. Putting your trust and your life in the hands of Jesus.
