Damn, it's super late
and I haven't recorded my video...
Hi everyone, welcome to my channel again!
Well, this week my video is not that
fancy.
But...
Anyway, I wanted to do it, because
I'm now engaged with this channel and I like the results it has got so far.
So, it turns out
I did an experiment with my students.
I wanted to know what was their opinion about
whether or not
gay and lesbian
couples should have kids.
So, since at the moment
France is
deciding to legalize
gay marriage and adoption.
So we did this:
I played this movie for them
its name is "Comme les autres"
which means "Like Everyone Else" in English.
So I made them give their opinion about this topic.
And I came into these facts...
worrying facts, I have to say.
One of the most difficult to accept is that, for example:
Someone said
that for her
being homosexual is a mental illness.
I can't believe
someone
who is that young
and lives in the 21st century
thinks like that.
I know that
her education, made her
think like that.
But, give a break, we are in the middle of the 21st century!
What is wrong with people?
I can accept that coming from people from past generations, but not from this one. I'm worried...
Fortunately, it was just one person
out of 40. Anyway,
Another people's opinion
which was also very shocking...
They said
"To avoid
bad consequences,
gay couples should
adopt girls
and lesbian couples should adopt boys,
so they won't confuse
the kids won't get confused about their sexuality"
What the hell is wrong?
I can understand by that, that they just want
the kid
grows up as
heterosexual.
And that can happen, yeah,
I mean, our parents
had to necessarily be,
or at least most of them,
had to be straight.
And straight parents have bisexual, homosexual,
or transgender children.
So, it can actually happen, that homosexual parents
have straight children.
So what I get about what these guys said, is that they just don't want it to be more homosexual people or something.
At least that's what I understand...
There was also this bunch of people
that is opposed to this idea, because they can't imagine a family
other than the traditional one: mother, father and children
other than the traditional one: mother, father and children
It's just impossible for them,
so
they said it's their religious values...
Well,
the only good thing here was that
most of my students, not a big majority of them though,
so, most of them
say they are favorable.
They respect
a lot to homosexual people...
They think they would be able to give children
what they need, specially love
those children that they don't have what they need.
So...
well...
that yeah,
they could adopt children
or have children using other methods.
But, they also said that society is not prepared yet
and I agree.
Society is not prepared yet
so, education
is very necessary,
a lot of work
in order to be accepted by the society.
So,
this was a risky exercise for me because
I had to be in a neutral position.
Because I was the one leading the debate so
I couldn't be on either side...
anyway, my students figured everything out
it was almost like coming out to them
But anyway,
I'm not worried about it because
this week is the end of the semester
and I won't see them again.
So, it's ok
I can't
behave badly
with people whose opinion
is not favorable
to our community, the gay community.
So,
this movie is highly recommended..
I didn't say what it is about... (I'll put in in the description)
Well,
See you next week with something more interesting. Bye!
