Position change without Min-hyuk!
Min-hyuk!
Hello, this is Making the Artist CNBLUE!
What episode are we on?
We are on 4th.
Today, CNBLUE is not as usual.
One of us is missing.
Min-hyuk!
Min-hyuk got fired!
There will be a new drummer.
He got fired..
We will get a new drummer.
We are looking for a talented new drummer!
I’m sorry.
What is today’s topic?
MISSION : what’s different between the life as a trainee and as a star?
Our common aspect! / Car!
There are big differences.
We have received the car.
We have the biggest difference!
Jung-shin got 2cm taller.
No no, I’m still same.
Jung-shin will quit the band when he gets 190cm.
Don’t abandon me like this.
I will play bass hard even if I get 190cm.
We need Min-hyuk.
We need him desperately. It gets awkward to chat without him.
When we were trainee, we could practice in regular basis but we can’t now.
We used to come and practice after school.
We started practicing from 6PM until 11PM ~ midnight.
In these days, if there is any more schedule left,
We just stay overnight to practice. This is a big difference.
When we were trainee, every day was same.
I have not been to the army base but it will be similar.
But we were motivated and had much fun.
It was really fun.
Well, I experienced frequent slumps.
When did it come?
I went into one as a trainee and one when we went to Japan.
There were too many things to take care, especially when we went to Japan.
I never thought of making a cue sheet.
I was not good at Japanese. I was the worst.
Living in Japan was not familiar and it affected my practice.
We rehearse before every concert. When we sound check, there are the band masters testing the sound.
There are band masters in every club.
I got so nervous playing bass in front of them.
I got really nervous.
I kept thought that they would be mocking me and my poor bass skills.
So I couldn’t’ even properly check the sound.
If you see here, the size of the fingers are all different.
Because you push the frelts with the left hand and pick the string with the right one.
The sizes are all different.
Occasionally, I got into a slump as well.
I had my own way to get out of it.
I just stopped practicing for couple days. Then I got really nervous.
A sense of crisis isn’t it?
Then I could get out of the slump.
I concerned about my voice color the most.
I wanted to have a voice that everybody would love.
For me, I got into couple slumps as well.
I believe you don’t get better by just continuously sing.
The way I sing got vastly different.
The place that I make sound got different.
I learned how to voice when I record the song ‘Now and Never.’
With that method, I started to use my belly more to sound the voice.
The vocal cords are very delicate.
So after you practice singing, you need plenty of rest.
Then you can learn how to voice properly.
Vocal chords are musical instrument as well.
It’s the most delicate one.
While we play,
we learn how more practice we need.
In order to become a professional musician, there has been long time as a trainee.
It’s great that we are continuously improving.
MISSION : How do you feel getting #1 within two weeks after your debut?
We were happy at that moment, but after we had a BBQ party, we got nervous again.
We had to be more humble.
It is easy to shine and disappear. Continuously shining is really hard.
That’s what we are aiming for so we got to work harder.
Do you remember the practice at that night?
We told ourselves to continue this passion.
We took of our tops and played music passionately.
We played ‘Give It Away’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
We were so into the song.
We got crazy.
We played guitar, lying on the floor.
We were all sweating and the practice room got really hot.
We got to have those moments occasionally.
We had one couple days ago.
Jung-shin was out of his mind.
Min-hyuk took off his shirt.
I suddenly miss him!
MISSION : Please tell us the difference between the concerts in Japan and Korea.
There is big difference.
How the audiences respond is very different.
Korean fans respond passionately, shouting certain chants in between.
While we play 외톨이야(I'm a Loner), they shout
Jung / Yong / Hwa / Lee / Jong / Hyun / C / N / BLUE
Kang / Min / Hyuk / Lee / Jung / Shin / 외톨이야
Korean fans chant to cheer us up.
On the other hand, Japanese fans do not make big gestures during the show.
They quietly listen and concentrate on the song and cheer afterwards.
Some even close their eyes to focus on the song.
We get really careful when some audiences close their eyes.
The mistake stands out when they focus like that.
They open their eyes when they notice the mistake.
I focus on those who close their eyes when I play.
They concentrate very *** the song.
So when I make a mistake,
I feel it couple times bigger than usual.
It feels like having a showcase in front of the music teacher.
Yeah, it feels like playing in front of the music teacher.
It’s really nervous.
When we were at Japan, we used to talk about this a lot.
We went there to learn instead of to perform.
So we learned more from witnessing and listening
other bands.
We were able to experience so many different music genres.
If we had not visited Japan before our official debut in Korea,
We would not be able to play as well.
We got used to the nervousness of the live concert.
We got more natural.
When the band goes through many concerts, it evolves a lot.
So I liked such aspect.
I liked how we could have concert every day.
Every day, we learned and our band sounded differently.
Title: Y,Why..
Yong-hwa actively participated in composing and writing the words for this song. It starts with silent guitar, followed by powerful sound of guitar, bass and drum. It shows CNBLUE’s style as a modern rock band.
