April 8 2007, Kings Of Leon began a two week stay at No.1 on the UK album chart with 'Because
Of The Times.'
April 9 1967, The Jefferson Airplane appeared at the Cheetah Club in Santa Monica CA with
the Doors. The show was produced by L.A. DJ, Humble Harve.
April 10 2011, Adele breaks the record for the longest run at No.1 on the UK album chart
by a female solo artist after her second album, 21 spends 11 consecutive weeks at the top
of the chart.
April 11 1956, Travelling from Amarillo, Elvis and his band fly in a chartered plane to Nashville
for a one day recording session. The flight is plagued by problems. First the pilot loses
his way and has to land in El Dorado, Arkansas, to refuel. Then one of the engines cuts out
because the plane has not been switched over to its full tank. 'Man, I don't know if I'll
ever fly again', Elvis announces when he arrives in Nashville. Spoiler Alert: He Does....
April 12 1963, Bob Dylan performed his first major solo concert at the Town Hall in New
York City. Tickets were $1.75, $2.75, or if you really wanted to splurge, $3.00.
April 13 1993, The first Aerosmith Day was observed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
after the band were given their very own holiday by then Governor William Weld.
