Hi, I’m Tom Hein, the Public Affairs Manager for the Wichita Metro Area. We have a number
of pavement patching projects in the Wichita Metro area, including one on I235 that we
began last fall, suspended for the winter and will finish this spring and summer. On
K96 on the northeast side of town we have a patching project from I-135 to Rock Road.
And in the western part of the county on US54 we have one from Goddard to Garden Plain.
On the south end of Wichita we have a project on US81 from Wichita to Haysville. And on
the east side of Wichita on K96 we have four bridges we’re going to repair the bridge
decks on and install polymer overlays on those decks.
East of that project, at the Sedgwick/Butler County line we’ll have an intersection improvement
project at US54 and 159th street east. That project will include a couple of bridge widening
and left turn lanes for all four directions plus traffic signals.
On the west side of Wichita on I235 at 13th street we will install a new interchange to
help relieve some of the traffic problems that we see each day on Zoo Boulevard and
I235. Many of these projects will have lane reductions
and closures and we ask you to please respect our work zones. For details on these projects
go to Wichita.kdot.org and our intelligent transportation website, wichway.org which
provides current traffic information for the Wichita Metro. Thank you.
