A brother and sister are climbing to the top of their sport
in the NZ squash scene.
Chapman and Parearau Kutia are from Gisborne,
and they have arrived in Auckland
for the NZ Junior Open Squash Tournament.
They both know they still have a way to go to reach their goals.
There's no love lost on the squash court as
Chapman and Parearau Kutia prepare themselves
to face off the top players in their age group.
This is good for my form, I can take some new skills home
and practice for other competitions.
I want to gain a higher seeding than what I have now.
This is the first day of the NZ Junior Open.
Chapman faced a big challenge in his first game.
His opponent is in the Junior NZ team,
but it's only from trying that you grow stronger.
He was too good and ran me around a lot.
I'm really stuffed.
I've played him a few times and I've yet to win but it was good.
When there's support, anything is possible,
and this is a family affair.
Chapman is in the NZ Junior Development Squad
and this is the beginning of his journey to the top.
I want to make it into the NZ team, play in world events
and win some medals.
The tournament is being held over the weekend,
and there's no doubt of the competition between the two
to see who will win.
