Hey folks welcome to my *** kitchen, it is Barry here today we are making some gorgeous
French Toast Roll Ups (they are great trust me!). In fact in the picture I just showed
you they are all joined together but I just halved them diagonally which looks cool. So
you have enough to make 8 little ones with 4 pieces of bread and I also have a maple
syrup dunking pot, they kind of remind me of churros they are so easy to make plus you
can fill with anything you want if you want to have a go at making them hit pause on the
video now and write down the ingredients and this is how we do it.
So we will start off by making the egg mixture, in a bowl combine the eggs with the milk and
vanilla extract. Whisk together until combined (takes a minute or so) then leave to one side.
Next we will make the sugar, combine the sugar with the mixed spice (you could use cinnamon
if you like) get it in there, mix it through to kind of stain it and go a light brown colour
and again leave that to one side easy :)
Grab a slice of bread and trim off all 4 of the crusts. Then grab a rolling pin to flatten
and squish up your bread in one motion, it gets pretty thin as you can see almost like
a wallpaper for your house! Now top your bread with the topping of your
choice, cream cheese works really well spread that on there leave about an inch from the
edges. Then lay your filling in one strip from one end to the other here are some
strawberries on there for a strawberries and cream twist.
Other versions can be a chocolate and raspberry one, apple pecan and toffee one or even a
peach cream and hazelnut. Let me know what you would do down below!
Oh just to say if you want to make a massive batch of these ahead of time for the next
day, week or whenever that is perfectly fine thing to do. When you are ready to cook them
grab your pan on a medium flame, add the butter and let it start to bubble. Dunk the rolls
in the egg mixture then cook in the butter turning gradually until golden brown.
Then simply transfer it out of your pan into that mixed spice sugar and life the sugar
on top as it is still hot then place on a board and repeat with your remaining rolls
and then you can even have a cheeky little maple syrup dipping pot, good times!
I then read out the social media messages that got in touch you can follow me on
Instagram / Twitter @myvirginkitchen and facebook just enter myvirginkitchen in the search box.
They taste absolutely sensational the sugar and mixed spice gives it a real Autumn feel
and the cream cheese was a little bit savoury so feel free to sweeten it up if you want.
I actually had the peach and hazelnut one but that maple syrup just ramps it up to another
level. If you have a go send me a picture @myvirginkitchen I love to see your attempts.
If you are reading these subtitles thanks a bunch, I type them out myself so let me
know if its helpful :) and if you are from another Country and would like to translate
for me, please get in touch!
