I mentioned a couple of weeks ago when I got back from Mexico seeing what I thought was
an oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico water. At the time, there was no reporting being
done about this. And I don't know that this is related, I don't think... I mean, let's
be honest, tens of thousands of people were flying over that same patch of water every
single day, so I don't think I noticed anything that nobody else could have, but today I was
reading that there is supposedly, allegedly, a new leak near the Deepwater Horizon site,
and that it is quickly becoming a massive oil slick once again.
Again, I don't even... I'm not even saying it's related to what I saw, we've just been
hearing many, many stories now about what appears to be oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
Louis: Right.
David: Judson Parker from the Tallahassee Environmental News Examiner wrote that he
spoke with pilot Bonny Schumaker of On Wings of Care again, and that Bonny was in the air
above the Gulf of Mexico finding more and more evidence of what appears to be a massive
leak near the site of last year's Deepwater Horizon disaster. And according to the pilot,
the oil, quote, "stretched for miles, with one continuous sheen stretching for almost
10 miles".
Of course, this goes against BP's story, which is that none of this is true. Within days
of closing the leak, BP was saying 75% of the oil is gone, something that I can't think
of anybody who'd believe that. We had Greg Palast on the show, investigative journalist,
shedding light onto that. Very, very hard to believe for anybody.
And it's very interesting that Schumaker reports radio communication with a ship that is known
as the Sarah Bordelon earlier in the afternoon on the day the story was filed which claims
they are gathering oil samples for BP. And the question is how can BP say there is no
oil there when they have a ship out there sampling oil? If there's no oil to sample,
why do you have a ship there?
Louis: And we go right back to the problem why is BP the one investigating themselves?
David: It's incredible how much of the sampling, testing, and reporting on oil in the Gulf
BP is doing. It just makes absolutely no sense. We should be able to see... I hope that most
of the audience can see through this when we hear BP says there's no oil, BP is doing
tests, BP is reporting on oil in the Gulf.
Why is BP doing it? Oh, well, in great part it's because BP combined with at least the
U.S. government, and possibly other authorities, have really, at least during the time of the
spill, you'll remember, almost completely restricted anyone but BP's own access to that
area. Incredibly convenient, ladies and gentlemen.
BP spokesman... you know what? Do I even have to tell you what BP spokesman Justin Saia
said? I mean, guess, Louis. Without even looking at it, guess what the spokesman said.
Louis: We are not aware of any oil in the Gulf.
David: Neither BP nor the Coast Guard has any scientific evidence that oil is leaking
from the Macondo well, which was permanently sealed almost a year ago.
Well, again, they may be straight-up lying, they may be telling the truth. In other words,
maybe it's leaking from another well that's nearby. Maybe what we're hearing is literally
true, but the spirit of which is clearly deceiving.
We'll keep an eye on that, too. Just a lot going on that we need to watch very carefully,
which has at its root a lot of corporate corruption, as we're used to.
On today's bonus show, today's bonus show is fantastic, I will tell my jury duty story
and tell you about some incompetent jurors, as a result of a juror caught friending a
female defendant in a trial he was involved in. Also, a woman punched a bear in the face
to save her dog. I ask Louis whether he would do the same to save his girlfriend's dog.
Let's just say it's definitely a conversation you're going to want to hear. And also, a
100% off store where everything is free. It's a weird concept. I'll explain more to you
about it. Make sure you're getting that bonus show, www.DavidPakman.com/membership.
