Hi, I’m Kristine and you’re watching Artbooking Made
Easy from Close To My Heart. Now, Halloween is a big
deal at my house, oh yes it is! It is such a fun
holiday for my family and I really do love documenting
my kid’s kooky costumes, all their candy-coated
smiles. So I’m really excited about using the
Artbooking cartridge to turn my Halloween layouts into
works of art this year. We’re going to be focusing on
the two Halloween themed keys in your Artbooking
cartridge today. It’s going to take your scrapbooking
to a whole new level; you can create layouts literally
with a push of just a couple of buttons. Let me show
you what I mean. Now first of all, each one of these
two page layouts has been created using just one single 15 00:00:45 --> 00:00:548 button, one of the Halloween keys. And so you can see
first of all, how beautifully the entire theme comes
together without flipping through your booklet or
trying to mix and match those keys. You’re going to
find your title, your photos mats, your frames, your
overlays. In fact, I want to show you the overlays in
here. Now a lot of our overlays are the full 11" x 11"
just like this fun little spider web here. And a lot
of the half overlays are exactly half that size, 5 1/2"
x 11", but occasionally we like to mix things up a bit
and this actually counts as one of your half overlays.
You can see I’ve got it tucked right back here in a
corner of my layout, but also work great up here. You
can really figure out what you’d like to do with these
half-cut pieces. They come in a variety of different
shapes and sizes, not just the 5 1/2" by 11 1/2". Now,
let’s go over here and let’s look at the second
Halloween themed layout made with that second key
that’s all Halloween themed. Again, I didn’t mix and
match. You’re gonna get your title, all of your icons
come together. Notice this fun little moon that I’ve
got here. It comes cut out and one of my icons is also
this great little bat shape. Now the bat is not
designed to be the exact same size or fit right inside
that moon. And that’s okay; that adds a little bit of
spookiness to it, don’t you think? So you can just
kind of layer that anyway you like to get the effect
that you like. Notice how here I’ve also backed it
with some mat black cardstock. That gives it a really
nice finished look and then I’ve popped up my Glitter
Paper black bat with just a little bit of foam tape,
just gives it a little bit of style. There are so many
things you can do and I really love backing the
negative spaces with a contrasting paper. There’s so
many things that you can do to give it a little bit
different look when you use this very simple
technique. And speaking of technique, I want to call
your attention to some of these great frames with the
spider webs. Now, I got this particular look by doing
something that’s pretty simple. I cut two different
frames, now remember all of the elements are linked
together on these keys so once I set my size dial to
11", everything else will cut perfectly proportionally
to make this layout look terrific without a lot of
guesswork and math in my brain. Now I’ve cut two of
these great frames. On this first one, I’ve just cut
it in a regular black cardstock. For this second one
that I’ve cut out on the Glitter black paper, I’ve
simply trimmed out the webs in the corner, so that's
show I can get those really small spider webs even
though they’re not separate elements on the key. With
a little bit of foam tape, I can cut those out and pop
them right on the top of the frame underneath. Add a
little bit of texture, a little bit of extra dimension
and it’s just absolutely perfect. And then of course,
ta dah! Because we waste absolutely nothing as
scrapbookers, what I’ve done to trim that out allows
me to use this frame for another project. So easy!
Even one that’s not Halloween themed, because it
doesn’t have the spider webs in it anymore. Now I want
to show you one last layout. Here it is: my fun purple
Halloween layout. Now on this particular layout which
is a two page layout, I have combined some of my
favorite elements from these two different keys.
Again, you’ll see that I’ve got a great title. I’ve
got that fun full-size overlay and look what else I’ve
done? I’ve added just a little bit of green glitter uh
cardstock underneath the back. You do not have to back
the entire overlay to get a great look. For a fun
different technique, try just selectively choosing a
little bit here and there. For this particular layout,
that green glitter paper ends up really playing off
like grass. Can you see that, how fun that is? Just
that little strip looks like grass. And you’ll also
note that I have got my kitty here who is stamped and
cut out with the cartridge. This is from the Eek and
Shriek stamp set. It is not included with your
Artbooking Collection, but it is one of our incredible
coordinating stamp sets. All you have to do to cut the
right size of the cat is make sure that here you do
use real dial size. That dial size to cut the cat is
not 11" but it is whatever it says on the carrier
sheet. So that makes it very easy to get integrated
pieces when you cut them all at the same size at 11"
or to coordinate with your stamp set. Now, I do want
to call attention to one fun little technique that
we’ve also added in here on the back of this page. I
hope you can see that great technique where I’ve done
a little bit of sponging using a Cricut® cut shape as
a mask. So easy! Let me show you how to do it. Now,
I’m gonna be using a sheet of Colonial White cardstock
just to show you this next technique so we get a
little bit better contrast, it might show up a bit
better on your screen. I’m working with one of these
great—this is just a piece of the border. It’s a fun
little spider web, another one of the great pieces tha
you’ll find on the Halloween keys. You’ll want to hold it
down in place wherever you’d like it and then I’m
going to be using a wedge of a sponge, but you could
also work with a sponge dauber. If you work with a
sponge dauber, you’ll want to be a little bit more
delicate in your application of the ink. But a sponge,
it can take it. So you’ll just begin picking up the
ink and laying it down using the border like a mask,
and then just kind of walking your fingers down.
Again, I’m just trying to show you the technique here,
but it will work with any color and on any color
cardstock. It’s really nice for a subtle technique.
I’m going a little bit dramatic with black ink here on
Colonial White, just so that you can see how well it
works as a mask. Another great way to use your 126 00:06:333 --> 00:06:35 Artbooking cartridge elements. Can you see that
beautiful contrast there? Picks up the design just
perfectly, works with any number of these great
detailed images that have some of those great cuts.
Remember Halloween layouts are so easy to create with
these two keys on the Artbooking cartridge. With a
little imagination you can really adapt the shapes to
bring a little bit of extra drama or dimension or even
