Acting & Singing Tips - How to attend an audition

Hi, this is Paul Louis, I'm an actor here in New York City and today I'm going to talk to you about how to attend an audition. The first thing you want to do is you want to enter the room quietly and go right over to the accompanist and give him your sheet music. You then can actually talk to the accompanist and tell him exactly what you want. So you give him some counts and again, don't do this in their face, there have been some videos about that here. Do not do that because that just annoys the accompanist. Just go over and give him a little count in depending on how you want your music. Talk to the accompanist and then when you know that he's completely in sync with what you want for your audition, you then go and take center stage in the middle of the audition room. Look out to the people who are auditioning, but don't make eye contact with them. Look directly over their heads because what that can do, that can make them very nervous. So again, look over their heads when you audition. Plant yourself, give a little queue to the musical director, he'll start to play your song and then sell it. Sell your song. Sell your song to the people out there who are auditioning the show. This is your moment to shine and this is your moment to tell them that you are right for this part.
