Hi! My name is Grady Johnson and I’m with Karma Train Productions and today I’ll be
discussing 16 mm films. I’m representing Expert Village.com. Now we’ve already setup
our 16 mm projector, so let’s go ahead and thread our first film. First we’re going
to need to put on our takeup reel and you’ll see here that this is a square hole and that’s
the square peg. So go ahead and pop it into that hole until it clicks and you’ll see
a little ball-bearing that’s going to click there. Once you got that in place, go ahead
and put on your film and this is our small film we are going to do today. Remember these
do come in three sizes; this is the smaller one, there is a medium size and a full size
as well. We are going to go ahead put the smaller film on. Be sure that you are getting
your leader coming over this end of the film to go into the projector, now that’s extremely
important that your leader is coming in this way, so that the holes are meeting in the
right place or it’s not going to thread properly. Go ahead and pop that into place,
get that where you want it. It’s very important that you push this button right here. You’ll
see the number 2 on this because this is the second thing you must do before you start
to thread your film. Be sure you push this button down and now you see when I did that,
it pulled all of these items down here. This will not move now until it is threaded and
if that is not done properly, then that piece is going to jam on you. So go ahead and close
your door back up here, and start your film. When you are threading this in, be sure that
you got the sprockets on the outside. Another quick look never hurts. Sometimes these things
are threaded backwards, so be sure of that. Double check this down here again too where
you put that in there just to be sure and then go ahead and pop it in, and it should
just go through there rather smoothly. Once your leader comes through and gives you a
little bit of distance, turn off the machine. Be sure you give yourself enough to work with.
Pull it on out. Now when you’re threading this in, look for this little slot that is
inside here. Now you will see right here inside the takeup reel there is a slot. It’s screwed
right there and that’s where you want to slide that into place. You see that, just
slide right into that little slot right there. Go ahead and spin that until it’s taken
up a little bit. Now there are a few settings on this that you need to be aware of, there
is the Ford setting, the Ford projector setting and the Ford projector brightness setting
to increase the brightness of the picture; that’s if it’s a really dark picture.
You also have a reverse; this is what you’re going to use when you rewind, and you also
have reverse projection, so if you’re running the film backwards, you can actually project
on to this. Now you want to go ahead and put your projector on, make sure your picture
is okay and check out your volume level and its working great. Now we are ready to watch
that film.
